Mental Health First Aid – Community Training @ Hennepin Community Center

Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to attend this training.
  • Minimum of 10 people must be signed up to hold the training. Subject to be canceled 24 hours in advance.
  • Lunch is on your own.
  • You must attend the full day to receive certification.
  • There is a small parking lot, otherwise free street parking surrounding the building on Hennepin and Ludington streets

Youth Mental Health First Aid USA is an 8 hour public education program which introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches individuals how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. Mental Health First Aid uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to assess a mental health crisis; select interventions and provide initial help; and connect young people to professional, peer, social, and self-help care.

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to attend this training
  • Minimum of 10 people must be signed up to hold the training. Subject to be canceled 24 hours in advance.
