Veterans with mental health conditions such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression may not seek treatment because of stigma. They are expected to be strong and handle problems, so they do not reach out for help. After completing military duty, transitioning from active military service to civilian life can be especially stressful, and result in numerous mental health challenges.
