The State of Stigma

January 2026 — Stigma and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD): From Stereotypes to Support

January 27, 2026 | 12PM

Misconceptions about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) create significant stigma to individuals who suffer from this serious mental disorder. People often trivialize OCD and use the term to describe themselves if they are organized or neat. We’ve all heard people casually comment “I’m so OCD!”

This attitude can be devastating to individuals who experience debilitating symptoms that often take over their lives.

Join the Anti-Stigma Coalition for a Facebook Live on Tuesday, January 27, from 12p-1p EST. as we discuss OCD, the seriousness of the condition, how stigma impacts individuals and families seeking help, and what resources and treatments are available in the community.
