The State of Stigma

March 2026 — Improving the Mental Health of Construction Workers

March 12, 2026 | 12PM

Physical demands, long hours, job insecurity, irregular work schedules, and financial worries can cause serious mental health challenges for construction workers. Employees often experience stigma in an industry that promotes toughness and strength—and perceives seeking help as a weakness.

According to the CDC, the construction industry has the second-highest rate of suicide among its workers—roughly four times the national average.

Join our panel for a Facebook Live on Thursday, March 12 at noon to discuss efforts underway to improve the mental health of construction workers of all ages.
