Meichle Latham, LCSW-R, Anti-Stigma Coalition member engagement and outreach coordinator, recently spoke at a WNY Lions – District 20N Cabinet Meeting. Attendees included Paul Smith, district governor, and other organization leaders. Meichle shared that the invitation alone is helping to eliminate stigma. One gentleman spoke to a situation in which he approached a woman who seemingly was experiencing a mental health challenge and eventually called 911 for help. Smith spoke openly about his challenges with a depression diagnosis and the exhaustion he experienced as he attempted to hide his symptoms.
