As a trauma-informed practice, we are committed to fostering understanding, education, and open conversations about mental health within our community.

Meet Tammy L. Kling LCSW, owner of Clear Skies Counseling. We recently spoke to her about stigma, mental health and why mental wellness is important.

Why did your organization join the Anti Stigma Coalition?

Clear Skies Counseling joined the Anti-Stigma Coalition because we believe that mental health challenges are part of the human experience and should never prevent someone from seeking support. Stigma often creates barriers to care, leaving individuals feeling isolated, misunderstood, or reluctant to reach out for help. As a trauma-informed practice, we are committed to fostering understanding, education, and open conversations about mental health within our community. By partnering with the coalition, we can help normalize seeking support, increase access to resources, and create a culture where individuals feel empowered to prioritize their emotional well-being without fear of judgment.

What is your organization doing to address stigma and share the message that it’s ok to speak up and seek help?

At Clear Skies Counseling, we work to reduce stigma by creating safe, welcoming spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported. We participate in community events, educational outreach, and conversations that help normalize mental health challenges and encourage individuals to seek help when they need it. Through our trauma-informed approach, we strive to meet people with compassion rather than judgment, helping them understand that asking for support is a sign of strength, not weakness. We believe that when communities openly discuss mental health, recovery, and resilience, it becomes easier for individuals to seek help and know they are not alone. We want people to know that you don’t have to wait until you’re in crisis to ask for help. Support, connection, and healing begin when we give ourselves permission to advocate for self and others.

Why is it important to talk about mental wellness?

Talking about mental wellness is important because mental health affects every aspect of our lives, including our relationships, physical health, work, school, and overall quality of life. Open conversations help reduce stigma, increase understanding, and remind people that they are not alone in their experiences. When we normalize discussions about mental wellness, individuals are more likely to recognize when they are struggling, seek support early, and access the resources they need. Just as we talk openly about caring for our physical health, we should also encourage conversations about emotional well-being, resilience, and the challenges that are part of being human.
