Why did your organization become a member of the Anti-Stigma Coalition?

Crisis Services has always supported a community collaboration approach when addressing the struggles of mental health and substance abuse in our community. By being a member of the Anti-Stigma Coalition, Crisis Services can stand firm with other organizations to build strong relationships within our communities by working together to confront the barriers that many individuals may face when seeking help?

How does stigma impact individuals who may be considering suicide?

Feeling isolated and alone due to stigma can further intensify suicidal ideation, as individuals may feel like they have no one to turn to. The belief that others will judge them harshly for having suicidal thoughts may prevent people from reaching out to friends, family, or professionals for support.

What is your organization doing to address stigma and enhance mental wellness for the community?

Crisis Services has always been invested in promoting mental health awareness workshop/training in our community. Cameron Burns is our Community Education and Outreach Coordinator, and she provides mental health/ substance abuse resources and information at events throughout our community. When the community calls, Cameron is always there to address their needs and request for her presence during different social and community events.

Crisis Services also provides a 24 hour hotline were individuals can call and asked for help, resources, or talk with a counselor. The Mobile Outreach Team is also available 24 hours to address any mental health/ substance abuse crisis in the community.
