Other small businesses should promote mental wellness in the workplace and community because businesses rely on community members, and residents rely on those businesses.

We recently spoke with Marrisa Jeffery, publisher

Living WNY, LLC joined the Anti-Stigma Coalition to help support the growing need in the community! Their publications, West Seneca Living and Lancaster Living, go to about 5,400 every month and we have many community submissions and education included and shared in our community through our publications. They also offer digital marketing and AI compatible websites to help local businesses in the community.

Why did your company join the Anti-Stigma Coalition?

Some of the biggest needs are support, awareness and more talking! As a local publisher and marketing expert, I have a great opportunity to not only connect the people in the community, but also use our publications (West Seneca Living and Orchard Park Living) as a way to let people know that it is helpful to have more conversations around the stigma of mental health aspects.

What is your organization doing to address stigma and share the message that it’s ok to speak up and seek help?

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. In our local publications, we dedicated space to share information regarding the Erie County Anti-Stigma Coalition. We shared the mission and important data with residents in our communities to help people get life-changing assistance and to show families that seeking help is a positive step forward, not something to be feared.

How would you encourage other small businesses to get involved in promoting a mentally healthy workplace and community?

Other small businesses should promote mental wellness in the workplace and community because businesses rely on community members, and residents rely on those businesses. This is true not only for products and services but also for the overall good in the community where we all live and work.
