The Puerto Rican and Hispanic Day Parade was held on August 15 and featured dancing, traditional food and community presentations. This popular event honors Puerto Rican and Hispanic heritage, history, and local contributions.
The Anti-Stigma Coalition participated in the event, providing resources, encouraging conversation, and inviting attendees to take the pledge to end stigma.
“Tabling at the Puerto Rican and Hispanic Day Parade was a great opportunity to speak with members of the Hispanic and Latino community,” said Alexzander J. Almenas, LMSW PROMESA, Inc. and Anti-Stigma Coalition Board Member.
“It was enlightening to hear some people share their stories about the stigma they have faced regarding mental illness. It was an honor to create a space where the Hispanic and Latino community feel safe sharing their stories. I hope to hear more from the Hispanic and Latino community.”
